Liverpool News

Rebecca Ferguson through on X-Factor after Beatles weekend

The Anfield mum-of-two, who looked stunning in a red trouser suit, admitted her Liverpool roots meant she was under pressure to do the song justice.
Judges Simon Cowell and Dannii Minogue both said the 24-year-old style icon looked nervous on stage.
But fan Cowell also praised Rebecca’s performance adding: "What I love about you is that I feel that you mean the words of the song. For you coming from Liverpool, that was a perfect tribute to them (The Beatles)."
And Louis Walsh described the Hugh Baird legal student as a "class act".
Saturday’s show saw the eight remaining contestants tackle tracks by The Beatles with Fab Four legend Sir Paul McCartney wishing the wannabes good luck in a video clip.
Controversial X Factor contestant Wagner Carrilho, who performed a medley of Beatles hits Get Back, Hippy Hippy Shake and Hey Jude, found himself embroiled in an on-screen spat with judge Cheryl Cole.
The Geordie hit back at the Brazilian performer after he made unfavourable comments about her council estate upbringing.
But Wagner survived with Paije Richardson, who sang Let It Be, and Cher Lloyd, who took on John Lennon classic Imagine, finding themselves in the bottom two.
And it was Paije who was sent packing after only his mentor Dannii voted to keep him on the show.
Rebecca remains one of the hot favourites to win the show but faces stiff competition from painter and decorator Matt Cardle and teen heart-throbs One Direction.
X Factor contestant Gamu Nhengu has recorded a single being released in the battle for the Christmas number one spot, it was confirmed today.
